This is today’s writing prompt and straight up I will tell you no. Absolutely not.
But, there have been others who have been influenced by the things I have said or done.
I would much rather stay in the background, never showing my influence or thoughts. Maybe it’s because I often don’t feel I have anything to contribute. I know this isn’t true. I’ve been asked for my input or advice on different topics. Am I an expert? Far from it, but I am curious, and that curiosity led to research, and that research led to knowing some things.
Other times I simply follow my instinct and know what I say is true. For example, on Sunday, I was chatting with my friend Rae about some of the things she had found on TikTok that made her uncomfortable, and she was adamant about deleting her account there. Now, I have found so many useful things and I wanted to her to really give it a chance before she made up her mind.
So, I shared some of the videos I knew about on the topic we were talking about and asked her to ignore some of the things she thought were negative and look at the positive aspects of said video. She saw my point and agreed to work on resetting the way the algorithm there shows videos in her FYP.
Does this instance make me a leader? I don’t think it does, but someone may disagree because I shared my experience and then asked them to try my suggestion for a while to see if things change for them.
So, no, I still don’t see myself as a leader, but it’s there deep down inside of me just waiting for the opportunity to come out and shine.

My dear sister are a mentor. You mentor others, even if you don’t realize it. You also inspire others to be better than they were.
That does make you a leader, you would make a great team lead or inspirational speaker to help others in their lines of work or path they take the journey of life on.
When people come up with the word leader they think someone who is pushing others around or taking charge, that is not necessarily the case, leaders inspire others, they guide them gently. You do those things.
So yes, you are a trailblazer and a leader.

Thanks, Rae! I always feel so out of my depth when someone tells me I can lead. But you are correct, I do it without thinking, and in a manner that isn’t forced.
