Wicked Wednesday Writing

Daily writing prompt
What does your ideal home look like?

I have always wanted a little cottage in the woods. It’s constructed of rocks and wood on the outside and the interior is cozy chic. It has a covered porch that will easily fit two old-fashioned rocking chairs, a small table, and be open to the view.

Outside, there is a garden path of stones flanked by moss and greenery. It’s got to be nestled under mature trees with an abundance of greenery. Flowers and bushes are overgrown making it look almost abandoned or wild. The assortment of flora and fauna of all species will be welcome and looked after while still being as wild as they are meant to be. It’s going to be perfect sitting on the covered porch watching the happenings in the gardens.

Inside it is full of warmth and welcoming to all who walk in the door. It’s a smaller-sized house with just enough room for two people and my little dog who loves to fall asleep close to the warmth of the fireplace. It almost looks too small to anyone who is visiting.

There is a living room that is the perfect size with overstuffed chairs and a sofa that is perfect for snuggling by the fireplace and more than comfortable enough to take a nap if you want to. It’s decorated in soft neutral colors with a splash of bolder colors to bring the room to life.

The focal point of the kitchen is the sink. A beautiful copper farmer’s style sink set into natural wood with just a clear coat so as not to detract from the beauty of the wood. Instead of cabinets on the walls, there are shelves of the same natural wood where the dishes and glasses rest, waiting for the next time they will be used.

The bathroom is the secondary haven in the house. It is large enough for 2 people to get ready simultaneously if needed. Dual sinks in one vanity, big enough so we aren’t bumping into each other. It has a large walk-in shower with a rainfall showerhead suspended from the ceiling, with shower massagers on two walls.

The focal point of the bathroom is the large soaking tub. It’s a claw-foot with a higher back on one end and deep enough it cover both my knees and my boobs while I’m soaking the stress of the day away. Of course, there will be a place close by to hold candles and bath salts that I create in my apothecary that is adjacent to the kitchen (no description of the apothecary, because it’s kind of a sacred space for me).

The bedroom is the true sanctuary of my little stone house. It is big enough for a king-sized bed with ample space to comfortably walk around it. The bed is piled with soft and snuggly blankets and pillows that are perfect for building a nest on those days when my Fibro is in control and all I want is soft, warm, and snuggly things around me.

There is a small reading nook with 2 comfy chairs and a table for cups of coffee or tea to rest on, and a floor-to-ceiling window that lets in the perfect amount of sunshine. There is a fireplace in the bedroom as well. It can be one of its own or the same as in the living room with access to the bedroom as well.

This is my dream home and I could write much more about it, but I hope you can see the reality of my dream within the words I have written.
