Happy Birthday to My First Love

If I had one wish for today, it would be for us to be able to go back in time to when you were 17 and I was 16 and do a restart on all the crazy stuff that has happened to us in the past 50 or so years. I would really like to have a do-over and see if we could do life together better than what we’ve been through.

But, that’s just a simple wish that somehow has manifested in the flesh, and we have reconnected now. Even after all this time apart, both of us have had multiple failed marriages and relationships, and a simple Happy Birthday text led us to where we are now, today.

It’s like we were never apart. We can talk about everything, from OUR past together and the memories both bad and good, to the relationships that failed in between. We talk about our children and grandchildren, we talk about the things each of us has had to do to work and make our lives, although separate, successful.

We’ve talked about how this or that should have been our life together. We’ve grown separately, but always holding a spot in each of our hearts for the other. And now, here we are connected again on a much deeper level than I could possibly imagine.

I am so thankful for you, for your forgiveness of my past actions against you, for your never ending faith in me, and for the love for me you kept in your heart for the past 50 or so years.

You are my TRUE soul mate and I love you!

Happy Birthday, my lost and then found again Love. Even though we won’t be together for this one, all bets are off for the future!
