I’ve Been Itchin …

… to write, but because my brain works most strangely, I haven’t been able to settle on just one topic. Currently, besides this one, there are 4 thoughts running around up there that won’t gel into enough clarity to put to the keyboard. *sigh*

At any rate, I’m here today with what will most likely come off as a hot mess, thoughts all jumbled together, making absolutely no sense at all. I promised you all I would try to be better at posting and since it’s been a few days, my heart wouldn’t let me go another minute without posting something.

Here in Silsbee, TX., it was Homecoming last week. The entire week was non-stop movement for all of us. From making sure Bug made it to Color Guard practice each time it was scheduled, to going last-minute shopping for CC. She’s a Senior this year and we just refused to let her miss out on anything!

The Bonfire was Thursday night, I had planned to go, but after seeing where it was going to be held and how far I would need to walk, I decided to drop CC and Kayla off to meet with friends and pick them up later. Going up and down the hills on the campus would have been just too much.

Friday night was the Homecoming game. It was GREAT!! The final score was 41-20 Silsbee! Even though there was a bit of walking for this event, it was even ground and no hills to overcome, LOL! There were a few steps to traverse to get to our seats, but thankfully they were wide enough and had handrails that made me comfortable and confident.

Saturday was the Homecoming parade and even though we had to scramble a bit to get CC to the right place for the Senior float, we had a great time! I swear the ENTIRE town of Silsbee came out to watch the parade and support the high school. It was one of the most heartwarming things I’ve seen in quite some time. I’m kinda loving livin in a small town, LOL! Yeah, me the girl from the “big cities of Tucson, Phoenix, Baltimore”.

Yes, I DID have a partial knee replacement on my left knee, but now I’m jumping through all the hoops required to have the surgery on the right knee. So, until that surgery can take place I’m over-cautious about falling, hence the refusal to go up and down the hills and making sure I have something to hold onto going up or down stairs/steps.

In the middle of all of this, I’ve been figuring out what I need to pack for my trip to Los Angeles at the end of the month. I’ll be gone for a week this time, so packing is quite a bit different than for 3 days. Am I excited for this trip? Fuck yeah!!

I haven’t been to California since I went with my brother and his family sometime in the 90’s. Yes, that trip was to do all the touristy things: Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, the beach. This trip is SO much more. I have no idea what all my guy has planned, but I have been promised the city lights from Mulholland Drive, unbelievable food, and possibly a trip to San Diego, my most favorite place in the country.

We are also going to be adding some touches to his apartment so that I will feel comfortable when I’m there. But these things aren’t the important part of the trip, the important part is simply being together and continuing to build (or I should say “rebuild”) the life we dreamed about when we were first together so many years ago.

I think that’s enough rambling for today so I will leave you with this final thought: Don’t EVER give up on your hopes and dreams. Life has a funny way of working things out just the way they are supposed to be and I am living proof of that. If anyone would have told me almost 18 months ago that I was going to be this happy and excited for my future I would have told them straight to their face to FUCK right OFF!
